Starting in January 2019, SMR releases binary software in the form of tarball single archive files. The advantage of this release format is that the software can be installed anywhere in your system, independent of super user permissions. The binary distribution installation page describes how to install the software on your Linux system.
SMR software can be installed in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10 systems running in a Linux virtual machine. SMR software has been verified under VMware Workstation and VMware Player under RHEL/CentOS 7. Note that SMR software may work under Windows 10 in other virtualization environments.
SMR software can be installed in Mac OS X running in a Linux virtual machine. SMR software has been verified under VMware Fusion running under Mac OS X 10. Note that SMR software may work under Mac OS X in other virtualization environments.
